Heavy Vehicle Engineers (HVE) Membership Categories:

Full Member

Apply for Full Membership of HVE if you:

hold a current NZTA Notice of Appointment as an HVSC (HVEA, HVET OR HVEK); and
have completed all required stages of mentoring in at least one certification category; and
are authorised to operate independently as an HVSC in at least one certification category.

Full Membership is optional, but available, if you:

hold a current NZTA Notice of Appointment as an HVSC (HVEA, HVET OR HVEK); and
have completed the first stage of mentoring; but
are not yet authorised to operate independently as an HVSC in any certification category.

HVS & HVP

If you hold a current NZTA Notice of Appointment to operate ONLY as an HVSC in the HVS and HVP categories, you may choose to join HVE as either a Full Member or an Affiliate Member.

Affiliate Member

Apply for Affiliate Membership of HVE if you:

are working towards, but have not yet received, an NZTA Notice of Appointment as an HVSC (HVEA, HVET OR HVEK); or
have an interest in the heavy vehicle industry, but do not hold an NZTA Notice of Appointment; or
are a Member of Engineering New Zealand who has an interest in heavy vehicle certification.

Promotion to Full Membership of HVE is required if you:

hold a current NZTA Notice of Appointment as an HVSC (HVEA, HVET OR HVEK); and
have completed all required stages of mentoring in at least one certification category; and
are authorised to operate independently as an HVSC (HVEA, HVET OR HVEK) in at least one certification category.

Apply for Retired Membership of HVE if you:

for reasons of retirement no longer hold a current Notice of Appointment as an HVSC but still have an interest/involvement in heavy vehicle certification.

Student Member

Heavy Vehicle Engineers (HVE) offers FREE Student Membership for those studying towards a recognised mechanical engineering qualification in New Zealand who are interested in the heavy vehicle industry. Student Members have rights as Affiliate Members. When a Student Member graduates, or withdraws from study, they must also withdraw from the Student Membership category, but are then free to apply for other membership categories. In order to be considered for free Student Membership of HVE, you will:

upload a scanned copy of your Student Identification into your online application
agree to confirming your student status with Engineering New Zealand each financial year
